Do it Yourself Options To Save on Energy Bills
There are many ways to save on energy with easy tips that you can do right away. We will also give information on those who want to extend their "do it yourself projects" to more involved projects (such as building solar panels, creating wind generators, and more).
Let's start with what you can do today to start saving with some very easy tips...
Saving Money and Energy By Switching Lightbulbs What's the difference between incandescent bulbs and CFL bulbs?
Incandescent Bulb The incandescent bulb's electrical current runs through a wire filament and heats the filament until it starts to glow (requiring more energy and cost to run).
This is the most common lightbulb in households, yet by simply replacing these bulbs with CFLs, you can increase your energy efficiency by 70% to 75%.
CFL Bulb (Compact Flourescent Bulb)
The CFL bulb has an electric current that is driven through a tube containing argon and a small amount of mercury vapor. This generates invisible ultraviolet light that excites a fluorescent coating on the inside of the tube, which then emits visible light. Since these bulbs do contain mercury, they must be disposed of carefully and should not be thrown away with your weekly trash.

CFL Bulbs are lower wattage.
Here is a chart to help you determine which bulbs you should convert to from the standard bulb to the CFL bulb:
CFL Bulb Standard Bulb
4-7 Watts = 25 Watts
9-11 Watts = 40 Watts
13-16 Watts = 60 Watts
18-20 Watts = 75 Watts
22-25 Watts = 100 Watts
