Spinach- Another Wonder Food

Spinach is a rich source of vitamin A (as carotene), folate, and vitamin C. It provides 5.4 grams of dietary fiber, and is very low in calories.

Spinach comes from a flowering plant in the family of Amaranthaceae.

If you plant spinach, it's an annual plant which grows to a height of up to 30 cm.

Spinach may survive over winter in temperate regions. The leaves vary in size from about 2-30 cm long and 1-15 cm broad. The larger leaves are at the base of the plant. The flowers are hard to notice and mature into a small hard dry lumpy fruit cluster 5-10 mm across containing several seeds.

Costco, in most areas, has a 2.5 pound bag of spinach as low as $3.79. If you buy spinach fresh, the bags at most grocery stores are much more expensive.

If you have a Costco in your area, there is a membership fee which most often can be split with another member. Most locations allow two adults to join one membership.
